This is a family favorite especially for Open House Menu'southward. One proposition make sure the pickles are thoroughly dried with paper towel, so the cream cheese will hold. I usually fridge 30 mn. before slicing.

My grandma makes these all the time for family gatherings, although she serves hers as whole pickles, not sliced. (Note: the whole pickle version needs a toothpick to go along the "wrapping" in place.) I've also seen a version of this where horseradish was added into the cream cheese.

I exercise this with ham... it is and then much easier to cut if y'all brand them the night before, wrap them in aluminum foil, and stick them in the fridge. The adjacent day they are much easier to cutting.

These are delicious BUT... endeavour them with pickled asparagus spear tips (Bought at Trader Joes) insted of pickles, and yous've got something really special, and 1,000 times more tasty!

I normally make these using ham and flour tortillas. Notwithstanding, I tried one-half using but the corned beef and pickles every bit the recipe indicates and the other one-half using the corned beef, pickles AND tortillas (ofcourse, this means calculation a thin layer of cream cheese over the torillas to make the whole thing stick/curlicue properly). Pretty good but the ones in the torillas disappeared more quickly than those without (I guess its just preference). The corned beef is pretty good (because information technology's not a favorite meat of mine). Only a notation: I did non need nearly every bit much cream cheese every bit the recipe calls for...unless you similar your spread really thick!

Keen recipe! This flew off the plate at my family unit gathering. I modified the recipe some. I definetly did not need as much foam cheese it called for, and I as well added a ranch dip seasoning packet to the foam cheese before spreading for some actress flavor. I used blackness forest ham, turkey, and bologna. Small dill gherkins were the best.

Great appetizer!

I make these a couple of different ways. Just the about popular with my family is, sliced ham with pickled asparagus. And the cream cheese spreads a petty easier if y'all pat the slices of ham dry with a paper towel get-go.

These are a large hit everytime I take them to a party. They are gone virtually immediately. I do use sliced dejeuner ham instead, merely will definitely try with pastrami. I spread cream cheese on the ham, place either baby pickles on or dill spears. Then I ringlet them up tightly and cut into about 1- ane 12 inch pieces. Y'all can use toothpicks if you lot choose to hold together, only I find it is a waste and they look improve without. Makes alot. I used one package (xvi ounce) ham, one package foam cheese and 1 1/2 tall jars baby pickles. YUMMY!!

I unremarkably brand these using ham and flour tortillas. Even so, I tried one-half using just the corned beefiness and pickles as the recipe indicates and the other half using the corned beef, pickles AND tortillas (ofcourse, this ways calculation a thin layer of cream cheese over the torillas to make the whole thing stick/roll properly). Pretty good just the ones in the torillas disappeared more apace than those without (I guess its just preference). The corned beef is pretty expert (considering it's not a favorite meat of mine). Just a note: I did non demand nearly equally much cream cheese equally the recipe calls for...unless y'all like your spread really thick!

I have made these for years just with ham instead of pastrami. They sound odd but one time you try them, they are delicious. I accept made them for potlucks and even for my lunch. You tin lighten it upwards by using low fat or fatty gratis cream cheese too. Personally, I recall Claussen pickles are the best for this recipe since they are more firm but I have used off brand pickles as well.

This is one of my faves! I like to telephone call them "Frog Eyes" (everyone loves that name!). Also, information technology helps to dry the pickle and ham both well before wrapping. Veggie cream cheese is yummy in this as well! Enjoy!

I made these to take to a dinner. I used sweet pickles just followed the recipe otherwise. I recollect that the dill pickles would probably be meliorate. They weren't awful but definitely non dandy. The adults ate a few of them merely the kids wouldn't touch them. I left with almost every bit many equally I had brought. Guess the group I made them for information technology only wasn't there thing. I would be sure y'all have some big time pickle lovers before y'all waste your time making these.

07/28/2013
This is good. The starting time ones I had used sparse ham instead and a whole pickle inside, then sliced. Better tasting than you lot would think. People really went for them.

11/17/2015
A huge hitting at get togethers. I used spears just to make the bites chunkier. But some advise..make certain your cream cheese is either whipped or very soft and that you pastrami is cutting thick enough so that when y'all spread the cream cheese information technology doesn't shred. Very easy to make!
